The foundation initially began in 2013 by hosting Thanksgiving Day Dinner. This success of Thanksgiving made it clear that more was needed for the youth the foundation wanted to serve. In 2014 the foundation hosted it's first Biddy Mason Resource Fair for Foster Youth.
The Thanksgiving dinner is always held on Thanksgiving Day. The event is staffed by church and community volunteers. The event is held in he historic Allen House and features, clothing and hygiene giveaways as well as the opportunity to make greeting cards for hospitalized children and other craft projects.
The Biddy Mason Resource Fair is a collaboration of multiple agencies, employers and trade unions that offer services and support to foster youth. Youth who attend also have the opportunity to shop for new clothing and hygiene items once they have visited all of the agency and employer booths. Toddler clothing is also included at this event for youth who are parents.
The event is held in the spring of the year at the Allen House.
Currently the foundation provides financial support to college students. The foundation purchases books, winter clothing and school supplies. Often we work directly with the financial aid office when there are challenges with tuition. We also serve as the ear that is always there to listen.
In 2018 the foundation provided $30,000 is scholarships to current and former foster youth.
